I am often asked what’s the best to start a discussion about sexual health with children, preteens, and teens. My response is to use everyday moments (ie watching a show, commuting, etc), make it developmentally appropriate, ask what peers know/are doing, and keep the conversation open!

Getting a good night sleep can lead to a healthy brain. Adequate sleep is also linked to better mood, memory, and diet. Yet, when asked, many of my teen patients report they don’t get enough sleep.

I kept a diary for years when I was a teen and often recommend my young patients write down what’s happening in their lives as well. There is new evidence that journaling can be very therapeutic. Time to get out your pens (or smartphones) and write!
