Q: My daughter struggles with organizing her time and feels very frustrated and stressed when she can’t finish assignments as they are due. How can we support her?
A: Does your daughter have difficulty with focus and concentration? Is she overscheduled? Does she use electronic devices and social media regularly? It is important to understand why she has difficulty organizing her time. Also, what type of learner she may be and to have her screened for any sleep- or mental health issues, including ADHD. Encourage her to set goals, prioritize tasks and break them into smaller steps. Also, turn off screens or set times and places when she takes a break from phones or social media. Finally, if she is still feeling stressed, it may be time to discuss her concerns with teachers or a counsellor and get additional support.
